What materials does Carigari use?

Gold: Every gold item at Carigari is meticulously crafted with a sterling silver base and plated with a generous layer of 18k gold, measuring 1 micron in thickness. 

Silver: At Carigari, we prioritize sustainability by using recycled 925 sterling silver for our chains and earring fittings. This alloy, composed of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper, not only reduces our environmental footprint but also upholds the quality and longevity of our pieces, while embodying our commitment to ethical craftsmanship.

Gemstones: Sourced meticulously by our extended team in India, each gemstone undergoes rigorous quality control both in Jaipur and at our London studio. Carigari orders gemstones in small, conscientious batches, utilizing every part of the stone and minimizing wastage during production. Embracing natural variations in colour and appearance, our gemstone jewellery exudes a unique charm and character. Most gemstones are plated with 1-micron gold or silver onto a brass electro base, ensuring both beauty and durability.

Pearls: Our cultured freshwater pearls, sourced sustainably from Asia, undergo a meticulous growth process lasting around two years. Each pearl, cultivated beneath the water's surface, possesses its own distinctive shape, size, and luster. Carigari's commitment to sustainability extends to our pearl jewellery, offering one-of-a-kind pieces with minimal environmental impact.

Storage Recommendations: To preserve the integrity of your Carigari jewellery, store it in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and humidity. Fasten chains to prevent tangling, and store each piece individually to avoid scratches or damage. Our jewellery comes packaged in Carigari-branded pouches or boxes, ideal for safekeeping when not in use.

Precautions while Wearing: Our jewellery is designed to last. In addition to our 1 micron gold plating, each piece is e-coated, to ensure durability under most common circumstances and activities such as showering, exercising, sunbathing. However, to maintain the longevity of your Carigari pieces, we recommend to avoid prolonged exposure to water, sweat, perfume, and harsh chemicals. 

Cleaning Instructions: Keep your Carigari jewellery sparkling by cleaning it with a soft, non-abrasive cloth. For sterling silver pieces, use a silver cleaning solution or a silver cloth, ensuring to remove gemstones beforehand. Avoid harsh chemicals that may tarnish metals or discolour gemstones, and refrain from using jewellery polishing cloths with built-in cleaners.
